Water

Safe Kids Southwest Florida is committed to educating parents about water safety. There is absolutely no substitute for adult supervision, but additional layers of protection are recommended.

Child Passenger

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children ages 3 to 14, due in large part to the non-use or improper use of child safety seats and seat belts.

Pedestrian and Bike Safety

Policies that increase the number of people walking and bicycling appears to be an effective method for improving the safety of people walking and bicycling.

Preventable injuries are the number one cause of death for children in the United States. Every year, 8,000 U.S. families lose a child because of a preventable injury. Millions more are injured in ways that can affect them for a lifetime.

At Safe Kids Southwest Florida, protecting our children is both our mission and an urgent call to action. Through education, advocacy, training, and hands-on demonstrations, Safe Kids supports caregivers with evidence-based data and injury prevention strategies on a variety of topics. Safe Kids also provides resources and safety devices to families in need.

Your support at any level helps keep kids safe. Become a lifesaver today.

Preventing Injuries at Home,
at Play and On the Way

The mission of Safe Kids is to prevent unintentional injuries, the leading cause of death and disability in children. Each year, an estimated 4 million Florida children (1 out of 4), ages 14 and under, will experience injuries serious enough to require medical attention.

Safe Kids Southwest Florida, led by The Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, is comprised of organizations and concerned citizens mobilized to fight the #1 killer of children, unintentional injuries.

Safe Kids Southwest Florida serves Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry  and Glades area families and communities with education and information that protects our younger population.

Safe Kids Southwest Florida, affiliated with Safe Kids Worldwide, is dedicated to raising awareness among the general public and policy makers through education, direct intervention programs and public policy initiatives. Through free events held regularly throughout the community, Safe Kids Southwest Florida has given away thousands of bicycle helmets, car seats and other safety equipment to reach thousands of children with “hands-on” safety programs.
